Privacy Policy
Effective date: 22/11/2025
Controller: Lachlan Harris / "lachlanharris.dev" (“we”, “us”, “our”).
Scope
This Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, disclosure, retention and disposal of personal information in connection with the mobile application Tire Change (the “App”, the "Application"), including information collected through the App, the App’s associated services, and the App’s presence on application distribution platforms (for example, Google Play). This Privacy Policy applies to all persons who use the Application. The Application is operated from Australia and this policy is prepared in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). The App is also published on Google Play and the disclosures required by Google Play’s Data safety process will be maintained in the App’s store listing.
Collection of personal information
We collect only the personal information that is necessary to operate and improve the App, provide features that the user elects to use, to secure the App and to comply with legal obligations. The categories of personal information we collect and the purposes for which we collect them are set out below.
Types of personal information collected and purposes:
- Identifiers and account information: unique identifiers created by the App or third-party services (including platform-provided player identifiers), account type (authenticated or anonymous) and display name where the user elects to use platform social features. Purposes: user authentication, leaderboards and social features, fraud prevention and account management.
- Device and technical information: device identifiers (including advertising identifiers), operating system, device model, app version, network/carrier, IP address, performance metrics and diagnostic/telemetry data. Purposes: application security and integrity, crash reporting, debugging and product improvement.
- Transaction and purchase information: purchase receipts, transaction identifiers and basic purchase metadata necessary to fulfil purchases and to process refunds where applicable. Payment card or full payment details are not collected by us and are handled by the platform payment provider.
- Usage and analytics data: events related to app usage (for example, session length, in-app events, feature usage) and aggregated analytics. Purposes: product analytics, A/B testing, and remote configuration for improving user experience.
- Communications and support information: correspondence submitted to our support channels (for example, email), including optional attachments such as screenshots supplied by the user, and any identifiers the user includes in a support request. Purposes: customer support, dispute resolution and security investigation.
We limit collection to what is required and do not intentionally collect special categories of personal information (sensitive information) unless the user expressly provides it and we have a lawful basis for doing so.
We use third-party services (for example, Google Firebase and related Google services) whose SDKs may collect and process some of the data categories described above on our behalf or as separate controllers. We disclose which services are used and the categories of information they process in our App listing and in the App’s Data safety disclosures. For details on data handled by those services, consult the provider documentation.
Disclosure, overseas transfers and third parties
We do not sell personal information.
We disclose personal information to third parties only for the purposes described in this Policy and only where necessary. Such disclosures include disclosure to: platform providers and their service operations (for example, Google and its services used to operate the App); third-party service providers engaged to perform services on our behalf (for example, analytics, crash reporting, payment verification and hosting); and government or law enforcement agencies where required by law or to prevent or investigate unlawful activity. Where a third party acts as a data processor for us, we require contractual commitments to protect personal information.
Because the App uses services hosted and operated by providers whose infrastructure is global, personal information may be transmitted to and stored in jurisdictions outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information to recipients outside Australia, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the overseas recipient handles that information in a manner consistent with the APPs and applicable privacy law. Users may obtain details of the countries to which information is transferred by contacting us using the details below. Guidance published by the app’s platform providers concerning disclosures required by the platform will be maintained on the App’s store listing.
Please note that the Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policy about handling data. Below are the links to the Privacy Policy of the third-party service providers used by the Application:
Rights and choices
Access and correction: Subject to statutory exceptions, individuals may request access to personal information we hold about them and request correction of any personal information that is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Requests must be submitted in writing to the contact details below and will be dealt with in accordance with the APPs.
Users may request deletion of their account and associated personal information. Where the request relates to information held by third parties (for example, platform providers or SDK providers), we will, where reasonably practicable, assist the user to exercise deletion rights with those third parties, however we may not be able to influence deletion processes controlled exclusively by platform providers. Requests for deletion should include sufficient information to identify the user account or device instance.
Where applicable, users may control certain processing by using device-level or platform-level privacy controls (for example, advertising identifier settings) and by choosing whether to use optional features that require account creation or social features. If the App enables advertising or personalised advertising, users will be provided with applicable choices and opt-outs consistent with platform requirements and law.
To exercise any of the rights described above, contact us using the details in the Contact Details section. We will respond to requests in accordance with applicable law.
How to make a complaint
If you have a complaint about our handling of your personal information, you must first contact our Privacy Officer (see Contact Details) and provide a written description of the complaint. We will investigate and attempt to resolve the complaint within a reasonable timeframe and will notify you of the outcome.
If you remain dissatisfied after we have investigated your complaint, you may refer the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you are in Australia, or to the relevant supervisory authority in your jurisdiction. The OAIC’s guidance on app privacy policies and the APPs is available on the OAIC website.

Retention and security
We retain personal information for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy and to comply with our legal obligations. The period of retention varies according to the type of information and the purposes for which it was collected. We maintain reasonable administrative, physical and technical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure or misuse. However, no storage or transmission method is absolutely secure.
Operational matters
The App may permit users to access the App without creating a persistent account by providing a mechanism for anonymous or ephemeral access. Where anonymous or ephemeral accounts are used, such accounts may be removed or deactivated under the retention and housekeeping policies of the App or the third-party service providers used by the App. Users who wish to preserve persistent account data should use platform-provided sign-in options. Users who seek deletion of anonymous or persistent accounts may request deletion via the contact mechanisms in this Policy; the App will comply with requests as required by law. For technical details about third-party service retention policies, consult the third-party providers’ published documentation — we maintain links to that documentation in the App’s store listing.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Policy’s effective date will be revised when material changes occur. We will provide notice of material changes where required by law.
